Sarajevo

Sarajevo is the capital and largest city of Bosnia and Herzegovina. Nestled in a valley and surrounded by the Dinaric Alps, it is one of Europe's most fascinating cultural crossroads, where Eastern and Western traditions have met for centuries.

The city is famous for its Ottoman bazaars, Austro-Hungarian architecture, historic churches, mosques and synagogues, reflecting its long tradition of religious and cultural diversity. Sarajevo hosted the 1984 Winter Olympic Games and is also known for the 1914 assassination of Archduke Franz Ferdinand, an event that triggered the First World War.

Today, Sarajevo is a vibrant cultural, educational and economic centre, welcoming visitors with its unique history, lively cafés, excellent cuisine and warm hospitality.
